RhinoChill IntraNasal Cooling System Selected as Finalist for 2012 MEDTEC EMDT Innovation Awards

26 January 2012 – The RhinoChill® IntraNasal Cooling System has been nominated for one of the European medical device industry’s most prestigious awards.

The RhinoChill system has been shortlisted for the Critical Care and Emergency Medicine Product of the Year category prize in the first MEDTEC EMDT Innovation Awards. The Awards are the only European awards dedicated to recognizing these achievements in the sector.

BeneChill Appoints Fred Colen, Former President of Boston Scientific’s CRM Group, as CEO .

21 November 2011 – Therapeutic hypothermia pioneer BeneChill Inc. has appointed Fred Colen as President and Chief Executive Officer.  Mr. Colen has over 30 years’ experience in the field of medical technology, and has held various senior management roles at Boston Scientific Corporation over a period of more than ten years.  From 2006 to 2010, he served as Executive Vice President of Operations and Technology, then as President, of the Cardiac Rhythm Management (CRM) Group, an acquired business he restored to double digit growth.  He joined Boston Scientific as Vice President of Cardiovascular Research and Development for Scimed Life Systems, the company’s cardiovascular division. He was rapidly promoted to Corporate Senior Vice President and Chief Technology Officer, where he directed research, technology, and product development for the entire company.  In this role he was instrumental in the very successful launch and rapid market adoption of the Taxus drug-eluting stent family and in creating an impressive stent product pipeline, which directly led to the substantial growth of Boston Scientific.

26 July 2011 – A new portable system which cools the brain via the nasal cavity has been demonstrated effective and safe in patients with neurological injury where therapeutic hypothermia was indicated. In a new study just published in the prestigious peer-reviewed journal Stroke1, the RhinoChill® IntraNasal Cooling System was shown to rapidly and effectively cool the brains of patients with neurological injury caused by stroke, intra-cerebral hemorrhage (ICH) or trauma. This was the case even in patients with a fever. There were no unanticipated adverse events or nasal complications.

Orlando, FL – November 15, 2009 – The first randomized intra-arrest cooling study performed using a novel intra-nasal cooling method showed much faster and earlier cooling in treated patients and significantly higher neurologically intact survival-to-discharge rate in many patients.

BeneChill Raises $13.5 Million Series C

San Diego, CA – July 15, 2009 – BeneChill today announced it has closed a $13.5 million Series C financing. New investor HealthCap (Stockholm) led the financing. Series A and B investors MedVenture Associates and NGN Capital also participated. Proceeds will be used to fund early commercialization of the company’s RhinoChill® IntraNasal Cooling System.

BeneChill Launches European Study of Intra-Arrest Cooling

San Diego, CA – February 2, 2009 – BeneChill, Inc. today announced the start of the PRINCE (Pre-Resuscitation Intra-Nasal Cooling Effectiveness) study. This randomized study will determine whether intra-nasal cooling using BeneChill’s RhinoChill® IntraNasal Cooling System during resuscitation increases patient resuscitation and survival rates.
